Our Commitment to Accessibility

Hipocap is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards.

Conformance Status

We strive to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standards. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities and more user-friendly for everyone.

The guidelines have three levels of accessibility (A, AA, and AAA). We've chosen Level AA as our target.

Measures We Take to Support Accessibility

  • Including accessibility as part of our mission statement
  • Integrating accessibility into our procurement practices
  • Appointing an accessibility officer and/or team for the website
  • Providing continual accessibility training for our staff
  • Including people with disabilities in our user experience research and validation
  • Employing formal accessibility quality assurance methods

Accessibility Features

Hipocap includes the following accessibility features:

  • Keyboard Navigation: All functionality is operable through a keyboard interface without requiring specific timings for individual keystrokes.
  • Text Alternatives: We provide text alternatives for non-text content so it can be changed into other forms people need, such as large print, braille, speech, symbols, or simpler language.
  • Adaptable Content: We create content that can be presented in different ways without losing information or structure.
  • Distinguishable Content: We make it easier for users to see and hear content, including separating foreground from background.
  • Color Contrast: Our text and interactive elements have sufficient color contrast to ensure readability.
  • Resizable Text: Our text can be resized up to 200% without loss of content or functionality.
  • Dark Mode: We offer a dark mode option to reduce eye strain and improve readability in low-light environments.

Compatibility with Browsers and Assistive Technology

We aim to be compatible with the following assistive technologies:

  • Screen readers (including NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, and TalkBack)
  • Speech recognition software
  • Screen magnification software
  • Alternative input devices

Known Limitations

Despite our best efforts to ensure accessibility, there may be some limitations. Below is a description of known limitations, and potential solutions. Please contact us if you observe an issue not listed below.

  • Complex Data Visualizations: Some of our advanced data visualizations may be challenging to interpret with screen readers. We're working on providing alternative text descriptions and tabular data for these elements.
  • Third-Party Content: Some of our content is provided by third parties and may not be fully accessible. We're working with our partners to improve this.
